Big Bay Holiday Bowl Parade featuring dozens of bands,
floats and the best parade balloons in the world.
Downtown San Diego came alive as over 100,000 spectators enjoyed the colorful, nationally televised, holiday parade with colorful floats, unique drill teams, heart-pounding marching bands and a procession of massive inflatables. The Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade presented by San Diego County Credit Union is a Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Production. This parade has more enormous balloons than any other parade! The parade began at 10:00 AM on Harbor Drive in front of the County Administration building. It ran south on Harbor Drive to Pacific Highway near Seaport Village.
The Big Bay Balloon Parade day-long festivities included:
•16th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals
Before the parade, watch the finals of the 16th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals championship.
•17th Annual Bumble Bee Foods 5K Run/Walk
Beginning at 9:45 AM at the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash St. and ending near Tuna Harbor Park, participants will lead off the Big Bay Balloon Parade, running past 100,000 spectators. Afterward, runners and walkers can enjoy the remainder of the parade.
Following the parade, join the fun at the Family Festival, a free event for the whole family. Held at the Broadway Pier, activities include climbing on a rock wall and trying to kick a field goal, as well as carnival games, balloon artists and airbrush tattoos.
