Dog Contest was a huge hit with<br /> thousands of people coming to Dog Beach in Huntington<br /> Beach to see great surfing action and a fantastic doggie<br /> fashion show.</p> <p><object doggone fun activities and<br /> contests while raising funds for animal welfare organizations.<br /> “It is only natural to have a surfing competition for dogs in Surf City USA,”<br /> said Lisa Scolman of Book That Event, Inc. “Huntington<br /> Dog Beach is the perfect venue for the fun-filled growing sport<br /> of dog surfing. Plus there are plenty of exciting activities planned<br /> for dogs that prefer to keep all four paws on dry land.”<br /> Dogs will compete in either a GROMS heat – where they<br /> compete in small, medium, large or extra large dog<br /> surfing heats, or the SHREDDER division and will be judged<br /> on a variety of skills, including: the length of their<br /> ride, the size of the wave and their confidence on the<br /> board. GROM heats will be allowed as many volunteers<br /> and helpers in the water as needed, while the SHREDDER<br /> heat is limited to 2 helpers. All activities will take place at<br /> Huntington Dog Beach, located west of Pacific Coast<br /> Highway at Goldenwest Street starting at 8 a.m<br /> Five-dollars of the event entry fee for the Surf Dog<br /> Competition, the Woofin’ Walk, or the Cowabunga<br /> Costume Contest will directly benefit the official charity<br /> partners: Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, Huntington Dog<br /> Beach, Orange County Humane Society, and The Pet Rescue<br /> Center.
