thousands of people coming to Dog Beach in Huntington
Beach to see great surfing action and a fantastic doggie
fashion show.

The Surf City Surf Dog event is one of the “Best Surf Dog” events
in the country and in addition to being attented by thousands
it also brings out some of the best surfing dogs in California
and around the Orange County area.

Second Annual Surf City Surf Dog Set For September 19
Dogs Will Compete in Surfing and Enjoy Fun-Packed Activities
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Surf City USA (Huntington Beach)
is once again going to the dogs. .. the Second Annual Surf City
Surf Dog event scheduled for Sunday, September 19, 2010!

Great Dog Surfing from Dozier the Bulldog
Pups and owners will be able to “hang 20” in surfing competitions
and strut their stuff in a variety of doggone fun activities and
contests while raising funds for animal welfare organizations.
“It is only natural to have a surfing competition for dogs in Surf City USA,”
said Lisa Scolman of Book That Event, Inc. “Huntington
Dog Beach is the perfect venue for the fun-filled growing sport
of dog surfing. Plus there are plenty of exciting activities planned
for dogs that prefer to keep all four paws on dry land.”
Dogs will compete in either a GROMS heat – where they
compete in small, medium, large or extra large dog
surfing heats, or the SHREDDER division and will be judged
on a variety of skills, including: the length of their
ride, the size of the wave and their confidence on the
board. GROM heats will be allowed as many volunteers
and helpers in the water as needed, while the SHREDDER
heat is limited to 2 helpers. Prizes will be awarded for the
top dogs but all pooches will be winners and receive a participation
award.

Event activities including the Cowabunga Costume Contest,
a one-mile Woofin’ Walk and the Hot Diggity Dog
Expo! The expo will feature more than 40 pet-related vendors
and organizations. All activities will take place at
Huntington Dog Beach, located west of Pacific Coast
Highway at Goldenwest Street starting at 8 a.m
Five-dollars of the event entry fee for the Surf Dog
Competition, the Woofin’ Walk, or the Cowabunga
Costume Contest will directly benefit the official charity
partners: Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, Huntington Dog
Beach, Orange County Humane Society, and The Pet Rescue
Center. Additional fundraising is encouraged, by working
directly with one of our charities partners.

Surf City Surf Dog 2009
Registration fees vary for the competitions and activities.
The Hot Diggity Dog Expo and general event attendance
are free and open to the public and their leashed, four-legged
friends.
